Makes it tough to be at the mercy of someone else for a meal. Still did OK but had a pasta buffet for lunch at my second of conferencing. Counted it all on myfitnessplan.com and still did well. I think. You have to guess when you really don't know what's gone into your food. I try to overestimate and may be grossly wrong. BUT, can't worry about that! Tomorrow, it's back to the office so a shake in the morning before I go and one at lunch. So organized right now that I have the stuff all ready packed up and in the fridge to take for my lunch shake tomorrow. Tomorrow night, despite this god awful heat, I will be cooking chicken breasts - grilling if Larry will fire up the grill, broiling them (and my kitchen) if not. Stopping at the store for some veggies. Have whole wheat rolls which is what the doc wants me to eat so I'm set! Trying yoga tomorrow and will try the treadmill for awhile in my office if it's not too hot...can't be sweating like a racehorse when someone might need to see me...my head gets soaked...yuck.

Today was the day...
Started today! Was a little hard...had a conference to attend and the food happened to be a buffet (ugh...) but I did OK. Found a great online tool: www.myfitnesspal.com. Got signed up and input all my info. It's great...let's you journal your food intake and I didn't find one single food not on their vast database list of foods. Figures your calories for you and gives you a graphic of the nutrients you've consumed. Have to work on cutting the protein down a little bit but everything else turned out great. So far, I think I can do this! Counted my 40 minutes of walking all over the campus from my parking spot to the meeting site to the cafeteria as my exercise...especially since it was 103 degrees today. The website adds the number of calories you burn (you have to be honest about your effort level) to your total calories. I didn't take in quite all my calories today and the site definitely told me about it. Had a Visalus shake for breakfast and dinner. Those keep me satisfied and help curb my appetite I think. Or it's just my state of mind right now!
At any rate, off to a great start!

Forget the past posts!
WELL...Those things discussed in the much earlier posts no longer apply. I finished the book and failed to gain enough inspiration to get me in gear. It's taken a much bigger, scarier happening in my life to kick me in the rear. I finally found a primary care physician who will take care of me into my old age...yay! But I've had to face some rough facts...my cholesterol is way too high, my triglycerides are out of sight, and I'm anemic! Whoa...I knew my blood work would not have good results. The good news is that everything else in my lab report looks great...even my blood glucose levels. Thus begins the real work, the "I have to do it for life" stuff.
The doctor has told me to (I know it's shocking!) lose weight and get in shape! SOOOO...that is exactly what I am going to do. No one needs to read this...it's MY journey. If someone happens to want to go on this journey with me, great...if not, this is for me!
I will be planning this weekend. Looks like I'm going to have to start cooking. I'm going to get rid of the junk in the house (confession...I might eat some of it this weekend...bad idea, I know) and my husband doesn't need it anyway. I'm going to make a grocery list and use my Visalus shakes in the morning and at lunch and then cook healthy food at night. Sorry to offend anyone but I'm going to call this my F*c* *t eating plan: F = fish, c = chicken, t = turkey. VERY little red meat - doc said once a month! Lots of fruits and veggies and I'm buying almonds for that once a day serving of GOOD fat.
Next, I will be contemplating exercise. Running is out of the question due to my foot surgery and the fact that the foot doc said "no running for exercise for you, ever!" Walking is OK. I'll start with that. Doc said to do some weights - I'll start with the 3 lb. hand weights and go from there. I have a yoga DVD which I will start on Monday night - even have a mat.
I'll still have my two cups of coffee...no reason to change everything. Maybe someday, being health conscious will become a part of my life and not an exception. THAT'S THE GOAL!
And now for the worst part. I'm actually going to write down the weight I was at the doctor's office yesterday. 194 lbs. One hundred ninety-four pounds. Not the most I've ever weighed but getting close.
I CAN DO THIS! If you're reading this, and want to help or to join me, please do.

Inner Thinner Peace Coaching
If you're looking for a loop hole for a healthy life, good luck! It's called doing the work. A diet, a shot in the arm, pill or potion will not help you see yourself as strong, brilliant and powerful. Looking in the mirror and trusting you is the key to permanent weight management and a healthy lifestyle. Fight not just for weight management but to understand your magnificence! www.innerthinnerpeace.com

Another Link!
Found a great website which sounds like it uses the philosophy that Geneen Roth writes about. The website is titled "Inner Thinner Peace Coaching" and is hosted by Laurie Runyan. The address is www.innerthinnerpeace.com. Laurie broadcasts every Wednesday on Radio Voice America at noon and there is a link on her website. If you can't listen to it at that time, you have 24 hours to download her broadcast to your computer or on MP3 for free. You can set up a one-on-one coaching session for free and she will make arrangements to communicate with you. I have no idea how much it would cost after that but may be worth looking into. Good to know there are other like-minded resources out there that will help me with my journey to the place I want to be for the rest of my life.

Off Track!
Well, we're on our 5th day in two weeks of no school due to snow on the roads. I hate to say it, but I've been totally off track with my eating. Comfort foods in this cold, snowy weather have taken over so I really need to get back to where I started when I began this blog. Going to try to finish the book today and then post again. Then I'm starting the book again and reading it more slowly. Trying NOT to beat myself up over getting off track!
